While excerpts of her works are read by Josie Lawrence, we look at the issues of wealth, class and how Eliot’s childhood travels with her father influenced her greatly in capturing humanity at its best and worst.  There is even a reading from one of Eliot’s first books, Scenes of Clerical Life, to enhance the issue of landscape and place that greatly dominates Middlemarch.
