As a user-generated platform (think Wikipedia for video lectures), CourseWorld is what you make it. If you’re passionate about a subject within the arts or humanities, consider helping improve that area of the site. (For each contribution described below, you’ll earn a “point” toward our homepage leaderboard—a ranking of users who rock.)
Here are five ways you can help build CourseWorld:
1. ADD VIDEOS
Locate high-quality educational videos on YouTube. Click “Add a Video” on our homepage to categorize them in CourseWorld and add descriptive tags.
2. RE-TAG VIDEOS
“Tags” (descriptive keywords or phrases) make it easy for users to sort and search for videos. Unfortunately, some of our tags are incorrect or incomplete. Help improve them: Beneath a video, click “Add Tags” or “Remove Tags” and suggest changes.
3. RE-CATEGORIZE VIDEOS
Some videos are simply in the wrong place. Others only appear in one category but deserve to be in several. Help with quality control by making sure videos exist where they ought—underneath a video, click “Re-categorize this video,” and follow the prompts.
4. REMOVE VIDEOS
Some videos don’t belong on the site at all--for instance, due to poor audio/video quality, questionable academic value, overly promotional content, or a topic outside the given categories. Suggest removing this content: Click the “flag” symbol beneath video and specify a reason.
5. SUGGEST IMPROVEMENTS TO THE CATEGORIES
Our 700+ categories are not set in stone and are constantly evolving. So…which categories should be renamed? Which ones re-organized or removed? And, assuming it makes sense academically and practically (i.e., sufficient content exists online), what new categories should be created? Share suggestions via our feedback form.
